Itinerary of the "Deccan Odyssey"

 

Maharashtra Splendor (Mumbai to Mumbai) – 8 Days / 7 Nights
Mumbai - Aurangabad - Tadoba – Ajanta - Nashik - Kolhapur - Goa - Mumbai
Day 01
This evening, arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and board your train on a mesmerizing voyage through the Maratha heartland.
Day 02

Proceed to visit Ellora Caves, a World Heritage site. A unique artistic creation, with its sanctuaries devoted to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, it illustrates the spirit of tolerance that was characteristic of ancient India. Visit BiBi-Ka-Maqbara, a replica of the Taj Mahal.

Day 03
Arrive at the Tadoba Tiger Reserve and spend an adventurous day with morning and afternoon safaris into the Reserve
Day 04
Arrive at Jalgaon railway station and drive to Ajanta Caves, a World Heritage site. These magnificent caves have exquisite ancient murals & sculptures that depict the life of Buddha
Day 05
Arrive in Nashik and proceed for a Champagne tour followed by lunch
Day 06
Arrive at Kolhapur, a multifaceted city with a mythical past. Visit the New Palace, the Mahalaxmi Temple and the Town Hall museum. Witness a traditional martial arts performance known as “Mardani Khel”.
Day 07
Arrive in Goa, known for its beaches, churches, and temples. Take a tour of Old Goa, visiting the St. Augustine Church & the Basilica of Bom Jesus. Walk through the old Latin Quarters known as Fontanhas.
Day 08
Arrive at Mumbai, where your journey comes to an end.

Day 01 Board the train at the Delhi Cantt station and begin your enchanting journey, heading to the home of Tigers – Ranthambore
Day 02

Arrive at Ranthambore and spend a day in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Enjoy adventurous morning and afternoon safaris at the Reserve.

Day 03

Today the train arrives at the Mughal citadel of Agra. Visit the iconic Taj Mahal, and other architectural gems of the Mughal Empire; the Itmad-ud-Daullah and the impressive Agra Fort.

Day 04

Arrive at the historic capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, often called the Pink City. Explore the forts and palaces with a walk through the colorful bazaars of this beautiful city. Enjoy a special dinner in the evening.

Day 05

This morning reach Jodhpur, the Blue City. Enjoy a walking tour of the Old Market and the magnificent Meherangarh Fort, famous for its several palaces with fabulous views of the city. 

Day 06 Arrive at the princely city of Udaipur. Visit the famous City Palace which houses the spectacular Crystal Gallery followed by an enthralling walk through the quaint streets of the Old City. Complete the tour with a boat cruise on the tranquil waters of Lake Pichola.
Day 07 Today you arrive at the Royal city of the Gaekwads, Vadodara. Visit the famous Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a World Heritage site, the magnificent Jami Masjid and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. Witness a scintillating folk dance performance, as you savour a wide array of delicacies from the Royal kitchens at the Laxmi Vilas Palace
Day 08

Arrive at Mumbai, where your journey comes to an end.

Day 05 This morning arrive at the Buddhist city of Sanchi. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, admiring the well preserved and near to perfect stupas built over a period of thirteen hundred years from the 3rd century BC to the 12th century AD. 
Day 06 Arrive in the western state of Maharashtra. Unravel the fascinating treasures of the Ajanta Caves, admiring the religious traditions and heritage represented through frescoes and murals on the walls of the caves.
Day 07

Today you arrive at Daulatabad. Visit the architectural splendour, Ellora Caves. The most outstanding monument is the Kailasha Temple carved out of a giant monolith considered to be one of the finest examples of rock cut architecture.

Day 08 Arrive at Mumbai, where your journey comes to an end.

This morning visit the rock cut caves and sculptured temples in Badami. Later the train departs for Hospet. 

Day 04 Today the train reaches Hospet. Visit the iconic City of Victory, Hampi.  Explore the sacred and royal centre’s, palaces and impressive temples.
Day 05 Arrive at the historic capital of the Sultans of the Deccan, Bijapur. Explore the citadel, visiting its beautiful buildings and tombs.
Day 06 This morning, you disembark in the Royal city of the Nizams, Hyderabad. Enjoy an excursion to Pochampally, visiting the weaver’s colony and witness the dying of yarn and the intricate art of ikat tie and dye weaving. In the evening, visit the famous Charminar, walking through bustling and colorful streets.
Day 07

This morning explore the magnificent ruins of the Golconda Fort. In the afternoon the train continues her journey to Mumbai.

Day 08 Arrive at Mumbai, where your journey comes to an end.
