Mozari village is best known because of SantTukadojiMaharaj who used to reside here.
Born in 1909 to a poor tailor, TukadojiMaharaj’s real name was Manik. Manik was never interested in studying and would often go and sit in the temple singing songs. He learnt a folk instrument called ‘Khanjiri’ and would often make quick compositions with the instrument and sing them leaving people enchanted. Manik soon found a guru, ShriAdkojiMaharaj and was named Tukadoji by him. TukadojiMaharaj went on to do ‘Sadhana’ (spiritual training) in pursuit of knowledge into dense forest in which he learned spiritual and yogic practices. After self realization he returned back to the village to serve the people.
He started singing Bhajans which promoted devotion, moral values and patriotism and soon became a prominent personality in the Independence movement of India. SantTukadojiMaharaj was praised by Gandhiji and was imprisoned many times because of the simple yet heart touching compositions which he used to sing on patriotism.
He went on to build ShriGurudevSevashram, ManavSenaChhatralaya and a lot of temples around the Amravati region. He always aimed at inspiring social workers to devote themselves to the service of society.
The Gramagita which he wrote became the Gita of Rural India because of the simplicity of the text. In 1955 he was invited to Japan for the World Religions Parliament and World Peace Conference.
He passed away in 1968 due to cancer and his Samadhi Mandir was built opposite to the Gurukunj Ashram where he spent his last days.
