Vajreshwari Hot Water Springs

The Vajreshwari hot Water springs at Bhiwandi tehsil of district Thane in Maharashtra State, India. Vajreshwari is known for its hot water springs and the temple of Goddess Vajreshwari. This village is also known for the ashrams of Swami Muktananda and Swami Nityanand. There are around 20 hot water springs, in a radius of five kilometres around Vajreshwari temple.

History

According to mythological stories, the hot water flowing through these springs is the blood of the demons slain by the goddess Vajreshwari. Hot water springs are the result of the emergence of geothermal (connected with the natural heat of rock deep in the ground) heated groundwater from the earth’s crust.

Geography

The hot springs stretch about 7 KM in the bed of the Tansa river. Mainly situated at Akoli, Vajreshwari, Ganeshpuri, and Satvalli. All these places are popular for their hot water springs. They are situated to the east of Virar and north of Thane.

The prominent weather in the Konkan region is rainfall, the Konkan belt experiences High Rainfall (ranges around 2500 mm to 4500 mm), and the climate remains Humid and warm. The temperature reaches up to 30 degrees Celsius during this season.
Summers are hot and humid, and the temperature touches 40 degrees Celsius.
Winters in Konkan is the comparatively milder climate (around 28 degrees Celsius), and the weather remains Cool and Dry

Ganeshpuri Hot Water Spring Thane: Ganeshpuri Hot Water Spring is about 2 KM away from Vajreshwari. It is also popular for its hot water springs and they are believed to have medicinal value. 
Thane Creek: The place has a flamingo sanctuary and it is located 54 KM to the south of Vajreshwari hot water springs. The creek is surrounded by mangrove forests and it welcomes various migratory birds every year from January to March. Numerous varieties can be observed including flamingos.
