The Ambazari Lake is the largest amongst the eleven lakes in the city of Nagpur. It is one of the popular tourist places amongst the visitors and is known for recreational activities like boating in both rowboats as well as paddle boats.

History

The Ambazari Lake was constructed by the Bhosle dynasty in the year 1870 to facilitate the supply of water to the government officials and citizens of the city through clay pipes. The lake served its purpose exceptionally well for more than 30 years. The use of the lake as a water source has now come to an end due to the increasing levels of pollution. Ambazari Garden was developed adjacent to the lake in the 1958. Visitors enjoy the scenic beauty and family time together at this spot.

Geography

Ambazari Lake is on the southwest border of Nagpur in Maharashtra with an elevation gain of about 72.2 ft.To the north of it there is another lake named as Futala lake and to the south of it there is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

The region is mostly dry throughout the year, and Summers are extreme. The temperatures in summers are around 30-40 degrees Celsius.
Winters here came to be as low as 10 degrees Celsius.
The average annual rainfall in this region is around 1064.1 mm.

Ambazari Lake has been developed as an important tourist attraction in Nagpur. Many ventures and facilities have been deployed here to encourage the physical activities here. Some of the activities are musical fountains, amusement games and different types of electric rides in the garden next to it. The Ambazari Lake also provides boating facilities and a specifically designed track for walking. These additions to the lake and garden have made Ambazari a good holiday destination for locals as well as for the tourers.

• Shree Ganesh Mandir Tekdi (7 KM) – An ancient and well-known temple of Tekdi Ganesh is also known as ‘Tekadicha Ganpati’ with immense importance among the locals. The temple is in Nagpur city of Maharashtra. A few years ago, the idol of Lord Ganpati was unearthed under the Shami tree. 
• Deekshabhoomi (3 KM) – Deekshabhoomi is a sacred monument for Buddhism located at Nagpur city in the Maharashtra state of India; where Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, accepted Buddhism with approximately 600,000 of his followers mainly belonging to scheduled caste on Ashoka Vijaya Dashami on 14th October 1956. 
• Ramtek Fort and Temple (55 KM) – Ramtek is also admired for its ancient Jain temple with various ancient statues of Jain Tirthankara. The prime idol belongs to the sixteenth Tirthankara, known as Shantinatha.
• Futala Lake (4.4 KM) - Futala Lake is a lake in Nagpur in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The lake covers 60 acres. Built by the Bhosle dynasty of Nagpur, the lake is known for its coloured fountains. In the evening, the illuminating lights along with fountains make this place extra ordinarily gorgeous.
