Varsoli is in the Raigad district in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The place is famous for its clean and sandy beaches. Varsoli serves as a naval base for the Indian Army. The base was set up by Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre when he served as the Naval chief under the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th Century. The base is used to date by the Indian Navy due to its strategic location.
Varsoli is a coastal place situated near the mouth of the Khadtal river in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It has lush green toppings of casuarina and coconut trees on the Sahyadri mountains on one side and the beautiful blue Arabian Sea on the other. It is located 96 KM to the south of Mumbai and 169 KM to the west of Pune.

The Kolaba Fort was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s last construction and was completed almost on the eve of his death in April 1680. It attained importance under the Angres and was the main base of the Maratha navy.
