Sangli

Kannada is another commonly spoken language in this region. Sangli district also has Narsinhpur, an old village. Around A.D.1100-1200, the Laxmi-Narsinh Ancient Temple was built. During the ancient period, Sant Namdeo, Sidheshwar Maharaj, and Tatya Tope used to dwell in the area. "GURU CHARITRA" also mentions this village's history.

Geography
Sangli is a district in Maharashtra that is located in the south and southeast. The district covers an area of approximately 8,572 square feet. Satara is located in the north and north east, Solapur is located in the north and northeast, Bijapur (Karnataka) is located in the east, Belgaum is located in the south, Kolhapur is located in the south, and Ratnagiri is located in the west.Shirala taluka, on the west, is part of the Sahyadri main line. The district's western portion is mountainous.Shirala, Walwa, Tasgaon, Khanapur (Vita), Atpadi, Kavathe Mahankal, Miraj, Palus, Jat, and Kadegaon are talukas in Sangli district. Geographically, economically, and socially, the district is diverse. Drought-stricken talukas include Jat, Atpadi, and Kavthe Mahankal. Many communities in the talukas of Palus, Walwa, and Miraj are always at risk of flooding. Hill stations include Shirala, Khedgaon, and Khanapur. In Shirala taluka, there is a forest at one end. In Jat taluka, on the other hand, there is a lot of arid area.
On the Maharashtra-Karnataka border, Sangli's half-maternal behaviour works in Kannada. The district is 205 kilometres long east-west and 96 kilometres long north-south.
Krishna and Warna are the two major rivers in the Sangli district. The Krishna River runs for 105 kilometres through the area. The average temperature in the district is 14 degrees Celsius, with a maximum of 42 degrees Celsius.The average rainfall in the district is 400-450 mm. In 2011, the district's population was 28,20,575. Creation On August 1, 1949, the South Satara district was founded, consisting of six talukas from Satara district and two talukas from Karnataka. Villages in the Jat, Aundh, Kurundwad, Miraj, and Sangli institutions were included. After the creation of United Maharashtra on November 21, 1960, South Satara was renamed Sangli district.In this district, the Talukas of Kavthe Mahankal and Atpadi were established in 1965. The Maharashtra government (All India Government)
created the 10th taluka of Palus taluka and afterwards the government on March 28, 2002, in the district of Kadgaon. Sangli's Ganpati Temple is a private temple, hence Shrimantraje is responsible for all of its expenses. It is particularly indicative of the Marathi language. Sangli is the birthplace of Marathi theatre, which has a long history in the lives of Marathi people. Vishnudas Bhave premiered Sita Swaynwar, the first Marathi drama, here.The Khandya heroes like Pranate Nana Patil of the Opposition were born in Vithojirao Chavan, who cut the edge of Aurangzeb's camp. The Sangli is well known for its artists' quarter. The Sangli area is known for producing high-quality fibres.

Historical importance
The ancient Sangli district has seen the birth and fall of kingdoms such as the Maurya, Satvahan, Wakataka, Rashtrakut, Yadav, Bahamani, and others. During the Peshwa dynasty, Sangli was an independent entity.The Patwardhan family was in charge of these institutions. Miraj is also a landmark. A large satyagraha was established at Bilasi in the Shirala taluka of the district during the pre independence civil disobedience campaign. The world-famous Nagpanchami event,
Gorakhnath Maharaj (Second Nathantale), began in Shirala in 32 Shirala. The Miraj folktale is well-known, and the vessels are shipped all over the world.Communication National Highway No. 4 runs through the city, linking the cities of Pune and Bangalore. The district is bisected by the highway.
From the railway line, Miraj-Pune and Miraj-Kurduvadi-Latur depart. Miraj is the district's most major railway junction.  Sangli is a significant district that is worth visiting.
Agriculture Yellow, red, and brown land may be found in the western portion of the district, particularly in Shirala taluka; black and stagnant land can be found in the Krishna, Warna, and Yerla river valleys in Miraj and Tasgaon talukas.

How to Reach
By Air:
Sangli is about 240 kilometres from Pune International Airport, which is the closest international airport.

By Train:
Sangli has its own railway station, Sangli Railway Station, which connects it to Maharashtra's major towns. In the Sangli District, Miraj is also a railway junction.

By Road:
Sangli is located 230 kilometres from Pune, 190 kilometres from Solapur, 50 kilometres from Kolhapur, 155 kilometres from Balgaum, 500 kilometres from Hyderabad, and 375 kilometres from Mumbai. It is served by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and certain private bus services.

The district of sangli is a recent creation, being made as late as in 1949. It was then known as South Satara and it has been renamed as Sangli since 1961. It is partly made up of a few talukas which once formed part of the old Satara District and partly of the States and jahagirs belonging to Patvardhans, and Dafles which came to be merged during the post-independence period. Kundal, the region around Sangli, was the capital of the Chalukyas. Kundal was an ancient village, around 1,600 years old. Kaundanyapur (its old name) was a part of Karnataka.
