Tadoba is probably one of India’s finest Tiger Reserves. The success of protection and conservation mechanism has meant the number of Tigers in this reserve have increased close to the optimal holding capacity. This has meant that the herbivore population has been maintained in balance and thus the flora too is able to grow and regenerate continuously.

Melghat was among the first 9 Tiger Reserves to be notified in 1973-74 under the prestigious Project Tiger movement. It is located in the Northern part of Amravati district, this is where Maharashtra meets Madhya Pradesh in the South Western Satpura mountain ranges. This Tiger Reserve is spread over 3600 sq km encompassing the Gugamal National Park, Melghat Wildlife Sanctuary and neighbouring rich deciduous Reserve Forests.

There is no greater thrill than spotting a tiger in its natural surroundings. And this can become a real life experience when you go to the Pench Tiger Reserve which shares its borders with both Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. And the tiger apart, you can also have a wonderful time exploring the other flora and fauna while going on long treks through the woods.

Durshet is a little village found on the banks of the river Amba, nestled in the Sahyadri ranges of Maharashtra. Due to its proximity to Mumbai and Pune it serves as a weekend getaway for people to move away from the crowded cities.

Jayakwadi Bird Sanctuary Aurangabad
Jayakwadi Bird Sanctuary is in Aurangabad. The presence of the Nathsagar Lake in the sanctuary makes the surrounding areas rich in aquatic flora and fauna. 'Sant Gyaneshwar Udyan' spread in 124 hectares is set up on the line of the famous 'Vrindavan Gardens' of Karnataka, 'Pinjore Gardens' of 'Haryana' and 'Shalimar Gardens' of Kashmir. This place stands as the main attraction of tourists. Different species of trees are planted in the park. The 'Nathsagar Lake' was constructed in 1976 as an extensive water reservoir including 26 islands with a shallow saucer type water body with a nearly 450-KM long shoreline.

Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary
Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary (Kannad) is a natural reserve that encompasses a 26,062 hectares area. It was declared as a sanctuary in 1956 by the Maharashtra government. It is a tropical dry deciduous forest, home to diverse wild animal species, reptiles and birds. The same as plants are highly prized for their medicinal properties. The main attraction remains Leopard, Nilgai, Sloth bears, Wild boar, wild cat.

Karnala Bird Sanctuary
Are you fed up of the urban chaos? Would you like a short break? How about a place where nature is at its best and the sounds that envelop you are only those of birds and the mild breeze sashaying through the trees? To be able to turn this into reality, all you have to do is take to the Mumbai-Goa highway where just 12 km from Panvel is the Karnala Bird Sanctuary. Like Mumbai, this place never sleeps, but with a difference. Here, the activity is those of winged beauties during the day and of nocturnal creatures once the sun goes down. The sanctuary has the Karnala Fort at its center and the name has come about due to the presence of a bulging rock which looks like a funnel-shaped loudspeaker, this being called a ‘karn’ in Marathi.

Phansad wildlife sanctuary
The Phansad wildlife sanctuary is across the Murud and Roha talukas of Raigad, in Maharashtra, India. The area was once part of the hunting reserves of the princely state of Murud-Janjira. It was formed in 1986 with the motive of preservation of the coastal woodland ecosystems of the Western Ghats. The total area of Phansad is 6,979 hectares, which includes forest, grasslands and wetlands.

Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan
Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan is also called the Byculla Zoo, and earlier Victoria Gardens is a zoo and garden covering 50 acres of land situated at Byculla, in the heart of Mumbai city, India. It is the oldest public garden in Mumbai. After the independence of India, it was named after Jijamata, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha ruler.

Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Sanjay Gandhi National Park falls within the suburban region of Mumbai. It covers 87 sq. KM of land, out of which 34 sq. KM is the core protected zone. More than 2 million visitors pay a visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park every year. This park gives a unique combination of flora, fauna and ancient history, with Kanheri caves situated right in the heart of the National Park.

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve
Tadoba is most likely one of India's best tiger reserves. Because of the success of the protection and conservation mechanisms, the number of Tigers in this reserve has increased to near-optimal holding capacity.Notably Maharashtra's oldest and largest National Park. This has resulted in a balanced herbivore population, allowing the flora to grow and regenerate on a continuous basis. To put it another way, the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve has a healthy forest. The Tadoba Tiger Reserve is rich in flora and fauna. Surprisingly, new monitoring technologies have revealed a consistent movement and exchange of populations of animals such as the tiger with other neighbouring forests – some even in neighbouring states. This has also resulted in a genetically healthy population of animals.

Tipeshwar wild life sanctuary
Tipeshwar wild life sanctuary is located in Pandarkawada Tehsil, in the district of Yavatmal, Maharashtra.The sanctuary encompasses an area of approximately 148.63 square kilometres and is densely forested. People rely on the forest for firewood, timber, and other resources in the villages that surround the sanctuary. Fauna- The sanctuary is home to a diverse range of animals, including hyenas, chitals, black bucks, sambars, jackals, wild boars, peacocks, monkeys, blue bulls, wild cats, bears, and many others.

Nagzira Wild Life Sanctuary (Nagpur)
Nagzira is on the Eastern part of Maharashtra, which borders Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. This area of the country comprises some of the last remaining pristine forests of India – other than of course the Western Ghats, North East and widely distributed and unconnected patches.

Navegaon National Park (Nagpur)
Going back in times to around 1300 CE, this area was under the rule of the Gond tribal kings. King Dalpatshah and his visionary queen Durgavati saw the importance of agriculture for supporting the livelihood of the local communities. However, they realised that they couldn’t depend on the erratic rain fall alone for irrigation. They thus started the process of building innumerable water bodies and lakes all around.

The Pench-The Pandit
There is nothing more exciting than spotting a tiger in its natural habitat. When you visit the Pench Tiger Reserve, which shares its borders with both Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, this can become a real-life experience. The Indira Priyadarshini Pench National Park, the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary, and a buffer zone make up the Pench Tiger Reserve. It is located on the southern slopes of Central India's Satpura ranges. The park's lifeline is the Pench River, which divides it in two.

Nandur Madhyameshwar Bird Sanctuary
Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is located at Niphad Tehsil of Nashik District , known as the Bharatpur of Maharashtra. It is designated as Ramsar Site and it's a Maharashtra's first Ramsar site .A stone pickup is constructed across river Godavari at Nandur Madhmeshwar. This resulted into the formation of rich environment for biological diversity. Many species of plants like Babul, Tamarind, Neem, Jamun, Vilayati, Maharukh, Pangara, Mango, Eucalyptus, are found here, also some aquatic plant species are available.

Radhanagari Bison Sanctuary
Nothing beats the thrill of walking along a path in a dense forest, anticipating the sighting of wild animals in their natural habitat or absorbing the fantastic and diverse range of colours that the area's flora may have to offer. Radhanagari Forest comes as a part of Western Ghats. Western Ghats is immensely important with unique bio-physical and ecological processes in India.To be able to absorb such a wonderful experience, you should travel to the Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary in the Kolhapur district, which provides all of this and more.

Sagareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary (Kolhapur)
Any wildlife sanctuary, you assume, has to be a landscape of natural flora. But there is a sanctuary in Sangli district which is artificial in the sense that it has been man-made – the efforts of a freedom fighter and environment activist whose efforts over the years have made the Sagareshwar Sanctuary a delightful place to visit. And over the years, the increasing numbers of a wide variety of fauna has only added additional tourist value.

Chandoli National Park
Chandoli National Park is a public park spread over Satara, Kolhapur and Sangli areas of Maharashtra state in India. It was formed in May 2004. Prior it was a Wildlife Sanctuary declared in 1985. Chandoli Park is imminent as the southern piece of the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve, with Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary shaping the northern piece of the reserve.

The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park
The Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, popularly known as the Rajiv Gandhi Zoo or Katraj Zoo, is situated in Katraj, Pune district, Maharashtra State, India. It is operated and maintained by the Pune Municipal Corporation. The 130 acres (53 hectares) zoo is partitioned into three sections: an anim.al orphanage, a snake park, and a zoo. It even includes the 42 acres of land (17 hectares) of Katraj Lake.
