Geschichte
Im Jahr 1953 hat die Pune Municipal Corporation denPeshwe Park auf einem ca. 1,5 ha großen Grundstück(2,8 ha) errichtet, wo Madhavrao Peshwe 1770 eineprivate Menagerie eingerichtet hatte. Im Herzen der Stadt Pune im Keller des Parvati-Hügels gelegen, zeigt dieser Zoo Tiere in traditionellen Käfigen. Im Jahr 1986 machte Herr Neelam Kumar Khaire (der erste Direktor
des Parks) mithilfe der Pune Municipal Corporation den Katraj Snake Park an Land, um sich in den Zoologischen Park Rajiv Gandhi zu verwandeln.1997 wählte die Gemeinde einen Standort in Katraj aus, um einen moderneren Zoo gemäß den Richtlinien der Central Zoo Authority of India zu schaffen, und begann, einen weiteren Zoo zu fördern. Der Zoo wurde 1999 als Zoologischer Park und Wildtierforschungszentrum RajivGandhi eröffnet und umfasste zunächst nur denReptilienpark, Sambars, gefleckte Rehe und Affen.Obwohl es bis 2005 dauerte, wurde die Gesamtheit derTiere aus dem Peshwe Park endlich an den neuenStandort verlegt und der Peshwe Park wurdegeschlossen.Der Park umfasst auch ein Rettungszentrum für verletzteund verwaiste Kreaturen. Seit Oktober 2010 gibt es eineTieradoptionsregelung.
Geographie
Der Park befindet sich entlang der Pune-Satara-Autobahn am Ufer der Peshwa-Ära Katraj lDer See.

Das Klima ist regnerisch im Monsun und die Winter sind kühl und feucht.

Der Zoo hat Sammlungen von Reptilien, Säugetieren und Vögeln. Unter den Säugetieren hat der Zoo einen weißen Tiger und einen männlichen bengalischen Tiger. Die anderen Säugetiere im Zoo sind Leoparden, Faulbären, Sambhars, bellende Rehe, Schwarzküken, Affen und Elefanten. Zu den Reptilien zählen indische Felspythons, Kobras, Schlangen, Vipern, indische Krokodile und indische Sternschildkröten, und auch Vögel wie der Pfauenbarsch gehören dazu. Der Schlangenpark hat eine große Sammlung von Schlangen, Reptilien, Vögeln und Schildkröten. Es gibt über 22 Arten von Schlangen. Dazu gehört eine 13 Fuß lange Königskobra. werden auch in Brailleschrift bereitgestellt; was es zu einem einzigartigen Ziel macht. Der Schlangenpark hat viele Schlangenfestivals und Schlangenaufklärungsprogramme organisiert, um
