Ratnagiri

Ratnagiri is one of Maharashtra's 36 districts, located in western India. Ratnagiri (city) is the district's administrative centre. The district has an urban population of 11.33 percent. The district is bordered on the west by the Arabian Sea, on the south by Sindhudurg district, on the north by Raigad district, and on the east by Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur districts.The Konkan division includes this area. The district is located in Maharashtra's Konkan region. The Mauryas, the Nalas, the Silaharas, the Chalukyas, the Kadambas, the Portuguese, the Marathas, and finally the British ruled this region.In 1832, the Ratnagiri district was established. According to 2011 Census of India,[6] Ratnagiri town had a population of 76,239, with males and females constituting 55% and 45%, respectively, of the population. 86% of males and 87% of females were literate. 11% of Ratnagiri's population was under 6 years of age.
