Misal Pav

Misal pav is a popular Indian dish from Maharashtra. also known as most famous breakfast of Marathi peoples.

It is made up of misal (a spicy curry prepared from moth beans) and pav (a type of Indian bread roll). Farsan or sev, onions, lemon, and coriander are sprinkled on top of the finished dish (cilantro). It is typically eaten with toasted bread or rolls topped with butter and buttermilk, or with dahi and papad. It can be eaten as a breakfast dish, as a snack, or as a full dinner.

Misal pav from "Kolhapur" is famous for its strong spice level and distinct flavour. Misal pav comes in several varieties, including Pune misal, Khandeshi misal, and Nashik misal; the initial component identifies the region of origin. Other varieties include kalya masalyachi misal, shev misal, and dahi (yoghurt) misal.

Misal is made with sprouted lentils and has decreased water content as well as a watery, spicy "cut" or "bite." It is divided into two parts: a thick matki curry called usal and a watery gravy called rassa. People usually combine these two based on their preferences and needs.

When moth beans are unavailable, mung beans are sometimes substituted. It can be served with Indian snack noodles as a garnish. Moth curry, also known as usal, is made with onion, ginger, garlic, and other spices.
