Ratnagiri

Ratnagiri is one of Maharashtra's 36 districts, located in western India. Ratnagiri (city) is the district's administrative centre.The district has an urban population of 11.33 percent. The district is bordered on the west by the Arabian Sea, on the south by Sindhudurg district, on the north by Raigad district, and on the east by Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapurdistricts.The Konkan division includes this area. The district is located in Maharashtra's Konkan region. The Mauryas, the Nalas, the Silaharas, the Chalukyas, the Kadambas, the Portuguese, the Marathas, and finally the British ruled this region.In 1832, the Ratnagiri district was established.

Lokmanya Tilak was born in Ratnagiri, as was Bharatratn Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve, Bharatratn Pandurang Vaman Kane,Swatantryaveer Savarkar, and Bharatratn Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Because of freedom warrior Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who was kidnapped by the British authorities in Ratnagiri, the district has become well-known.Ratnagiri is a coastal district in Maharashtra, located on India's western coast. This district is home to various beaches, creeks, sea forts, harbours, hot springs, caverns, temples, and other religious sites, scenic splendour, and the birthplace of several
famous people.
