Bhandara district is a district of Maharashtra state in central India. Bhandara town is the administrative headquarters of the district.The district is an administrative district in the state of Maharashtra in India. The district headquarters are located at Bhandara. It is fondly called as the 'District of Lakes’. Bhandara town is also known as 'Brass City' owing to the presence of a large brass products industry. The entire region is surrounded by the hills, rivers and dams, and other natural resources. The district is located on the coasts of river Wainganga.
The district is rich natural resources like forest. It has one of the largest teak forests in India. More than half of the area of the Bhandara is covered by jungle. These forests are full with medicinal herbs, fruit and nuts, honey, edible fruits, lac, and the mahuci blossoms. Some of the forest areas are cleared for agricultural purposes. Some of the major crops grown here are wheat, food-grains, rice, linseed, millet, pulse, and sugarcane. These forests are rich in timber wood. It has a vast population of teak wood, and some of the best varieties. These forests also contain animals like panthers, tigers, deer, and wild boars.
Tourism in Bhandara district comprises visiting a number of places of both religious
significance as well as leisure activities. Apart from the ancient temples, the district of
Bhandara has a lot of activities to offer the tourists. There are ancient sites, such as the
Ambagad fort built in 1700 AD or the village of Brahmi which contains a well said to have been built by Rakshahas. Or one can visit Andhalgaon, famous for the weaving industry here especially the Kosa cloth. When looking for rest and relaxation, the places that Bhandara has to offer its tourists are places like Rawanwadi, Koka etc. which are full of scenic beauty.

Hills

The northern highland of the district constitutes the hills like Bhimsen, Koka, Gangazari, Darkesa, Chinchgad, etc. which are parts of Satpura mountain ranges. The eastern part of the district is also covered by the hills like Gaimukh, Chandpur, Ambagad, Pratapgad& Gaikhori. The Pratapgad hill is the largest hill in this district.
Ambagad hills:There are only a few isolated low hill ranges in the district. The lowest and most northerly of these hill ranges is the Ambagad range. It is and extreme outlier of the Satpudas running with a zigzag trend in the extreme north-west of the district area to the north and west of the Wainganga. 
Gaikhuri range: in the central parts of the district running from Bhandara town almost right upto the Gondia is the Gaikhuri range. This is a cluster of elongated knolls and acts as a water divide between Wainganga and Bagh drainage. Towards the centre the centre

Rivers
The main rivers of the district are Wainganga, Bawanthadi, Ambagad, and Bodalkasa. The
entire district of Bhandara falls within the drainage system of the Wainganga River and one
of its principles affluent, the Bagh.
