Raigad

The district is bordered on the northwest by Mumbai Harbour, on the north by Thane District, on the east by Pune District,on the south by Ratnagiri District, and on the west by the Arabian Sea. It forms a single landform with the vast natural harbour of Pen-Mandwa, which is immediately south of Mumbai port.The district's northern portion is part of Navi Mumbai, a planned metropolis with its own port, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

About Raigad
Raigad is one of the districts in Maharashtra's Konkan Division, and it is bordered on the west by the Arabian Sea. The Sahyadri mountain range encompasses the majority of the District's mountainous areas. It was renamed Raigad District after it was renamed Kolaba.
Raigad is noted for its fascinating historical sites, clean beaches, picturesque landscapes, and Western Ghats' rich flora and wildlife. Religious sites in the district, such as Ashtavinayak Temples and Elephanta Caves, are single witnesses to the district's rich cultural history. Raigad has always been a culturally lively community, with people of many religions, dialects, ethnicities, and so on.
The Bene-Israeli Jews have a historic hinterland in the Raigad area.
Raigad is home to a number of fantastic and majestic forts, including Raigad Fort, Kolaba Fort, Murud-Janjira Fort, Sudhagad Fort, and others. The only Technological University in Maharashtra is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University in Raigad.
Raigad is constantly advancing to the forefronts of the twenty-first century, from national-level industrial complexes to internationally famous scientific institutions.

How to reach
By Air:
Lohegaon Airport in Pune and Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport in Mumbai, Maharashtra are the closest airports.

By Train:
For main lines of Indian Train, the nearest railway stations for most tourist attractions are Mumbai C.S.T. Terminus, L.T.T., Kurla Terminus, Pune Railway station, and Panvel Railway station (in Raigad district). Pen, Roha, Veer, and other Konkan Railway stations in Raigad district are nearby.Tourists can use the Konkan Railway to travel to the nearest local railway station.

By Road:
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses connect all major towns and tourist destinations in Raigad district. Sion Panvel Expressway connects Raigad District to Mumbai. Panvel, Khalapur, and Khopoli are all located along the Mumbai-Pune expressway and NH4. NH 17 begins in Panvel and runs all the way to Poladpur.

Routes by Sea:
JNPT, Uran, is the principal national seaport. Mandava, Revas, Murud, Uran, and Dighi are small sea jetties for catamarans and motorised boats. From the Gateway of India to Alibag, you can take a catamaran or a ferry boat. From Bhauche Dhakka port to Revas port, a small boat ferry service is also available. From Revas to Alibag, Maharashtra S.T. Bus service is provided.

The district is bounded by Mumbai Harbour to the northwest, Thane district to the north, Pune district to the east, Ratnagiri district to the south and the Arabian Sea to the west. It includes the large natural harbour of Pen-Mandwa, which is immediately south of Mumbai harbour, and forming a single landform with it.
The northern part of the district is included in the planned metropolis of Navi Mumbai, consisting of Kharghar, Ulve node, New Panvel and Khanda Colony, Taloja, Kamothe and Kalamboli nodes as well as Uran City and its port, the JNPT.
