Diveagar (Ratnagiri)

Diveagar is on the western coast of India in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. It is one of the safest beaches in the Konkan region. The place is in proximity to Harihareshwar and Shrivardhan beach.

History :

Diveagar is a village in Shrivardhan taluka of Raigad district in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The place is famous for its clean and sandy beaches. It is popularly known for its Suvarna Ganesh mandir for the gold statue of Lord Ganesha. A few years ago, this gold statue was stolen. The beach is approximately 4 KM long, and it is one of the untouched beaches, it can be seen in its purest and cleanest form.

Geography :

Diveagar is a coastal place in the Konkan region of Maharashtra with Sahyadri mountains on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. It is 81 KM to the south of Alibaug city, 182 KM away from Mumbai and 163 KM away from Pune. 

Weather/Climate :

The prominent weather in the Konkan region is rainfall, the Konkan belt experiences High Rainfall (ranges around 2500 mm to 4500 mm), and the climate remains Humid and warm. The temperature reaches up to 30 degrees Celsius during this season.
Summers are hot and humid, and the temperature touches 40 degrees Celsius.
Winters in Konkan is the comparatively milder climate (around 28 degrees Celsius), and the weather remains Cool and Dry

Diveagar is famous for its untouched beaches covered with coconut, suru (casuarina) and betel nut trees. The beaches here are tranquil. It is the best place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of the sunset.
It is a popular destination for weekend gateways as well as picnics.
Parasailing, Boating, Banana rides, horse riding as well as horse cart riding.

One can plan to visit the following tourist places along with Diveagar.
●    Shrivardhan: 23 KM south of Diveagar. The place has a beautiful, long and clean beach. It is                connected with Diveagar by a beautiful coastal road.
●    Harihareshwar: 37 KM south of Diveagar beach. The place is known for ancient Shiva and                    Kalabhairava temple. It is also famous for its rocky beach and various geographical structures              carved out by the coastal erosion processes.
●    Velas Beach: 12 KM to the south of Harihareshwar, famous for its turtle festival.
●    Bharadkhol: Famous fishing village situated 7 KM to the south of Diveagar

Being on the coastal part of Maharashtra, seafood is a speciality here. Along with the seafood, the place is famous for the ukadiche modak.

The place is accessible throughout the year. The best
time to visit is from October to March since the plentiful 
rainfall lasts from June to October, and the summers are hot 
and humid. 
Tourists should check the timings of high as well as
low tides before entering into the sea.
High tides during the monsoon season could be dangerous 
hence should be avoided.
