Kunkeshwar is on the western coast of India in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. The place is also known for its crystal-clear water, white sand and green foliage of coconut trees. The popular pilgrim place Kunkeshwar temple is well known for the Mahashivratri festival and Kunkeshwar yatra (fair).

History :
Kunkeshwar is in Devgad taluka of Sindhudurg district in the south Konkan region of Maharashtra. The place is known for its clean and sandy beaches and hilly surroundings. A 4-5 KM long clean beach with clean white sand and picturesque views make it an ideal place to spend quality time with near and dear ones.
Geography :
It is in the south Konkan to the south of Devgad fort. It has green-topped Sahyadri mountains on one side and the blue Arabian Sea on the other. It is located 63 KM to the northwest of Sindhudurg city, 137 KM away from Kolhapur and 420 KM away from Mumbai. The place is accessible by road.
Weather/Climate :
The prominent weather in the region is rainfall, the Konkan belt experiences High Rainfall (ranges around 2500 mm to 4500 mm), and the climate remains Humid and warm. The temperature reaches up to 30 degrees Celsius during this season.
Summers are hot and humid, and the temperature touches 40 degrees Celsius.
Winters have a comparatively milder climate (around 28 degrees Celsius), and the weather remains Cool and Dry

Kunkeshwar is well known for its temples and tranquil beaches.
Activities like sunbathing, swimming and leisure walks can be enjoyed at this place. One can see dolphins diving in the deep sea from distant places on the beach.

Devgad Fort: The fort was constructed to protect Devgad port which is located 8.4 KM to the north of Kunkeshwar.
Devgad beach: Located 7 KM north of Kunkeshwar, the beach is famous for fishing and sunbathing.
Vijaydurg fort: Located 37 KM to the north of Kunkeshwar, the fort was built in the 13th century, and it is famous for its architectural excellence.
Tarkarli beach: Much known for water sports activities, Tarkarli is situated 49 KM to the south of Kunkeshwar.
Kavlesad point: Must visit during the rainy season to enjoy picturesque scenery 23.6 KM away from Kunkeshwar.
Special food speciality and hotel :
Being on the coastal part of Maharashtra, seafood is a speciality here. However, it is one of the most visited tourist destinations. Since it's on the Mumbai and Goa highway, the restaurants in the locale serve a variety of cuisine. Malvani cuisine is the speciality of this place.
