Panshet Dam
Panshet Dam or Tanajisagar Dam is constructed on the Ambi river, a tributary of the Mutha River. The aim to build this dam was to irrigate the water of the Ambi river and utilize it for agricultural activities. The water from this dam is also supplied to Pune city to fulfil its needs.

History
The dam was constructed in the late 1950s as an earth-fill dam. The reinforced cement concrete (RCC) strengthening was not used in the original construction. Instead, plain unreinforced concrete blocks were used, which resulted in the bursting in its first year of storing water on 12 July 1961. This had caused massive flooding in Pune, with a loss of more than 1,000 people. It was later reconstructed with better infrastructure and precautions and opened again in 1972.
Geography
Panshet Dam is located approx. 50 KMto the southwest of Pune city. The place is accessible by road. It has an elevation of 63.56 metres and its length of 1,039 m.
Weather/Climate
The region has a hot-semi arid climate year-round with an average temperature ranging from 19-33 degrees Celsius.
April and May are the hottest months when the temperature reaches up to 42 degrees Celsius.
Winters are extreme, and the temperature can go as low as 10 degrees Celsius at night, but the average daytime temperature is around 26 degrees Celsius.
The annual rainfall in the region is around 1300 mm.

Panshet Lake: Panshet is one of the famous picnic spots of Pune and attracts many visitors from Mumbai. The lake accumulates the backwater from the Panshet Dam. The dam has Sahyadri mountains in its background which provides panoramic view throughout the year.
Panshet Water Park: Panshet Water Park is a water sports centre.

- Varasgaon dam: Varasgaon is a dam on the Mose river which supplies water to the city of Pune, Maharashtra, India. It is also called Veer Baji Pasalkar Dam. The Panshet dam is adjacent to Varasgaon dam, and together both have become popular picnic spots. During the monsoon or just after the monsoon from July to December the hills in the surrounding appear lavish green with plenty of waterfalls. Water sports facilities are also available at this place.
- Torna fort: Torna Fort, also known as Prachandagad, is a large fort located in Pune district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is historically significant because it was the first fort captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1646, at the age of 16.
- Panshet Water Park – This is the second appealing tourist spot situated within the proximity of Panshet Dam. The place offers variety of water rides for the people of all age groups.
