The Shakti Krishna Coin Museum of Money and History was founded in 1980 under the Indian
Institute of Research in Numismatic Studies which is even known as the Indian Numismatics,
Historical and Cultural Research Foundation. The museum was established to maintain the records of the history of the currencies of Ancient India and let the general public have a basic knowledge about the history of Indian coins. This museum is spread throughout the campus for almost 505 acres of land surrounded by Anjaneri hills. This museum has made a good documentary
history which is beneficial for our generations.
The museum showcases the coins of various dynasties like Kushanas, the Kshatrapas, the Nagas,
the Vallabhas, the Gupta, the Kalachuris and the Parmaras. Some artefacts from the dynasties of
Delhi Sultanates, Mughals, and the Malwa Sultans. The museum consists of real and replica coins,
moulds, dyes, photographers and numismatic materials. This can give an idea about the Indian
currency since ancient times. The museum also exhibits coin manufacturing techniques. Some
workshops are also organized in the museum. Other than coins the museum also exhibits copper hoard objects, terracotta objects and some historical artefacts and paintings.
