History
The Temple of Ambadevi is one of the oldest temples in the whole district. This temple is dedicated to Devi Amba, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple is an example of amazing craftsmanship and architecture. However, presently it is covered with plaster. The main image at the temple is a sandstone idol of Ambadevi and there are various other images of different deities like Ambabai, Vishnu, Mahadev, Parvati and Ganapati in the three arc-shaped Garbhagrihas. In the sam Garbhagriha the images of goddess Amba, idols of Laxmi and Narayan are placed. On the western wall of the temple mandap (hall) the Navagrahas are carved in relief, and two images of Nandi, Mahadev and Vishnu are below the arc. Navratri is the most celebrated festival in this temple, and a large number of devotees come here during the festival.
