Lingmala Waterfall
Lingmala waterfall is the most visited waterfall in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra State, India. Known for its serene surroundings and lovely environment, the waterfall begins around 600 feet over a cliff and is accompanied by rich greenery.

History
A thirteenth-century
Yadava ruler built a tiny temple and water tank
at the well of the Krishna River. The region
around Mahabaleshwar called the Vale of Jawali was
under the rule of Mehr Clan, the vassals of the
Adilshahi Sultanate of Bijapur. In 1656, the founder
of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
, killed the then leader
of the Javali Valley, Chandrarao More, due to political conditions, and confiscated
this area. Around this time, Shivaji Maharaj built a
fort near Mahabaleshwar called Pratapgad.
The fortress is still owned by the descendants
of Shivaji Maharaj. The waterfall is located near
Mahabaleshwar.
Geography
Lingmala Waterfall is located at a distance of 7.3
km east of Mahabaleshwar in the Sahyadri Mountains.
The forest bungalow of Lingmala is located near
the waterfalls. The water falls here from a height
of about 100 meters.
Weather / Climate
The region has a hot, semi-arid climate all year round
with an average temperature of 19-33
degrees Celsius.
April and May are the hottest months in Pune, when the
temperature reaches up to 42 degrees Celsius.
Winters are extreme, and the temperature can go up
to 10 degrees Celsius at night, but the
average daytime temperature is around 26 degrees Celsius.
The annual rainfall in the region
is around 763 mm.

Thousands of tourists visit the waterfalls
of Lingmala every year. Tourists admire the beauty of the
falls. The majestic Dhobi Waterfall and
Chinaman Waterfall are located near
the Lingmala Waterfalls. The picturesque waterfall and lush
green vegetation make it a natural work of
art. It is considered a must for nature lovers and
photographers. It serves as the perfect place for a picnic
with friends and family because of its natural
beauty and ecstatic location.
Nearest tourist destination
Tapola: In the south of Mahabaleshwar, Tapola
ghat in the Koyna Valley is a small town on the extreme backwaters
of the Triveni Sangam of the Koyna, Solshi and
Kandhari Rivers. Known as Mini Kashmir because
of the tranquility and beauty of Shivsagar Lake, which is surrounded
on three sides by Sahyadri, is an
excellent boat and picnic area. (34 KM)
Mapro Gardens: It is a garden park in the mountain station
of Panchgani, near Mahabaleshwar, known
for its strawberry production. It is located in the village
of Gureghar and was developed and maintained by a food company
called Mapro. (5.1 KM)
Krishnabai Temple: Krishnabai Temple is an ancient
temple located just a few meters from PanchGanga Temple
in Old Mahabaleshwar. The temple also offers
enchanting views of the Krishna Valley and
the surrounding countryside. (7.5 KM)
Rajpuri Caves: Rajpuri Caves are one of the oldest and
most visited attractions in the region. Also called Kartik
Caves, these caves are home to a
beautiful temple of Lord Kartikeya, the elder son
of Lord Shiva. This is one of the most visited temples
in Mahabaleshwar. Tourists from all over the country
visit the caves because of their religious significance.

Panchgani: 12 km east of the waterfall of Lingmala
lies another beautiful mountain station in the Sahyadri mountain range. Famous for its scenic beauty,
it is one of the largest table areas in the world. Parasailing
