Nivati

Nivati is on the western coast of India in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It is one of the untouched beaches in the Konkan region. It is surrounded by coconut and betel trees. Nivati is also popular for its fort.

History :

Nivati is in Malvan taluka of Sindhudurg district in the south Konkan region of Maharashtra. The place has a mixture of white sand as well as rocky beaches. It is endowed with the green covering of coconut trees. Nivati fort was constructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj right after the construction of Sindhudurg fort to make Maratha Naval forces stronger.

Geography :

Nivati is a coastal place located in south Konkan has lush green Sahyadri mountains on one side and the turquoise Arabian Sea on the other. It is located 41.8 KM to the southwest of Sindhudurg city, 176 KM to the southeast of Kolhapur and 483 KM to the south of Mumbai.

Weather/Climate :

 The prominent weather in the region is rainfall, the Konkan belt experiences High Rainfall (ranges around 2500 mm to 4500 mm), and the climate remains Humid and warm. The temperature reaches up to 30 degrees Celsius during this season.

 Summers are hot and humid, and the temperature touches 40 degrees Celsius.

Winters have a comparatively  milder climate (around 28 degrees Celsius), and the weather remains Cool and Dry

Since the place is untouched and not known to too many tourists, it does not provide activities like water sports. If you want to experience the calmness of the sea and want to take a break from your busy schedule, then it is the right place for you to relax.

Nivati Fort: The fort is near the Nivati beach, and it was built to look over Karli creek and Vengurla port.
Bhogave beach: Located 9.4 KM away from Nivati via Bhogave road. A calm and serene place to relax and for bird watching.
Sindhudurg Fort: This fort is built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is influenced by the Portuguese style of architecture. One can see the impressions of the hand and foot of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on this fort. It is 28 KM from Nivati beach.
Tarkarli beach: The place is also known as Queen beach in the Konkan region due to its popularity for water sports such as scuba diving and snorkelling.
Malvan: Situated 26.8 KM north of Nivati beach, this place is famous for cashew factories and fishing ports.

The place is accessible throughout the year. The best time to visit is from October to March since the plentiful rainfall lasts from June to October, and the summers are hot and humid. Tourists should check the timings of high as well as low tides before entering into the sea. High tides during the monsoon season could be dangerous hence should be avoided.
