Bandra-Worli sea link was built in 2009. It has been the most convenient and fast route connecting 2 cities of Mumbai, Bandra in the western suburbs and Worli in the southern suburbs respectively. It is built by the Hindustan Construction Company. The sea link is around 5.8 km long. It has a total of 8 lanes on it.
Sea link is constructed at the mouth of river Mahim or popularly known as Mithi. The bridge gives a beautiful sight of three forts in the region as Bandra, Mahim and Worli, all reminding us of the medieval history of Mumbai.
BandraWorli Sea Link is the first cable-stayed bridge. It is a unique bridge of its kind to be constructed in open seas in India. Concerning the underlying geology, the pylons have an intricate geometry. The main span over the Bandra Channel is one of the longest spans of concrete deck attempted. We can note the balancing of the engineering complexities located with the aesthetics of the bridge. The use of seismic arresters in the infrastructure of this project was a major challenge. It is noteworthy that fishermen and their fishing techniques were studied while building the bridge. Though it is not allowed to stop on the bridge, the beautiful view of the bridge can be seen from DadarChowpatty, Bandra fort, Worli Fort and Mahim Beach as well as the fort.

The BandraWorli sea link is on Mahim bay. Mithi river is connected to Mahim bay.
