Popular Dams
Maharashtra is the one of the big state having source of two biggest river of India in terms of water inflows and river basin area, Godavari and Krishna river. There are around 1821 small, large and big dams in Maharashtra, build on major rivers including Koyna river, Bhima river and Wardha Wainganga river.

Lonar Lake
Lonar lake, also known as Lonar crater, is formed due to the meteorite collision. It is a notified Geo-heritage Monument with saline and alkaline water.

Sautada
Sautada is located at Sautada village near Patoda taluka. Rameshwar temple of Lord Shiva is also near the waterfall. An annual fair is celebrated around the temple in the Marathi month called Shravan.

Jayakwadi Dam
Jayakwadi is a dam on the Godavari river in Paithan tehsil of Aurangabad district in Maharashtra, India. It is the biggest irrigation project in Maharashtra state. This dam is surrounded by a bird sanctuary.

Sahastrakund Waterfall
Sahastrakund Waterfall at Nanded is an amazing spot with a mix of adventure and beauty. The waterfall tumbles down from a height of 50 ft and has greenery all around it which provides anenthralling view.

Nimboli Hot Water Springs
Nimboli hot water springs are in Nimboli village, few kilometres away from the Vajreshwari Hot water springs. These are natural springs and is one of the several found on the banks of the Tansa river in the Thane district.

Unhavare
Unhavare is a village from Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. It is known for its natural hot water springs. It is on the Dapoli-Khed road and is surrounded by a series of hills and the panoramic Konkan ghat.

Pandav Kund
Pandav Kund is also known as Pandavkada is a waterfall in the Kharghar region of Navi Mumbai. The waterfall is considered one of the tallest (approximately 105 metres) waterfalls near Mumbai.

Surya Dam
Surya Dam is situated on the Surya river in the Palghar district. Its official name is Dhamni Dam D02997 which comes from the Dhamni village where it is located. The dam belongs to the Irrigation Department of Govt. of Maharashtra.

Vajreshwari Hot Water Springs
The Vajreshwari hot Water springs at Bhiwandi tehsil of district Thane in Maharashtra State, India. Vajreshwari is known for its hot water springs and the temple of Goddess Vajreshwari. This village is also known for the ashrams of Swami Muktananda and Swami Nityanand. There are around 20 hot water springs, in a radius of five kilometres around Vajreshwari temple.

Aravali Hot Water Springs
The Aravali hot water springs are in the Aravali village in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra State, India. It is a natural phenomenon situated to the south of the bridge over the Gad river. The average temperature of these springs is 40°C.

Chavdar Tale
Chavdar Tale (pond) is a historical place in Maharashtra with social revolutionary importance from the British era. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar performed the famous Mahad Satyagrah at this pond by drinking water from this pond, which was restricted to the lower caste.

Powai Lake
Powai Lake is an artificial lake in Mumbai. It is near the Powai village in between the Andheri and Vikhroli suburbs of Mumbai. The area has been developed significantly in the last few decades, and is considered one of the most expensive real estate hubs from Mumbai.

Bhira Dam
Bhira Dam is in Roha taluka near the western coast of India in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The dam is located on the river Kundalika and is also known as the Tata Powerhouse dam. The dam is famous for hydroelectricity generation, but at the same time, it is much popular as a tourist destination.

Tansa Lake
Tansa Lake is in the Thane District of the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The lake is the main source of water for the city of Mumbai. It provides 3 million gallons of water every day to Mumbai through specially laid pipelines.

Ganeshpuri Hot Water Spring
Ganeshpuri Hot Water spring is in the Bhiwandi taluka of Thane district in Maharashtra State, India. The place is famous for its natural hot springs.

Devkund Falls
Devkund Falls is a waterfall located near Bhira, at Ravet in Maharashtra, India. It is a plunge type of waterfall tumblinggreat amounts of water on the rocky surface beneath it. It is a popular spot for a short picnic. Few people believe it as abathing place of Gods.

Akloli Hot Water Spring
Akloli Hot Water Spring is at Akloli village in the Bhiwanditaluka in the district of Thane in Maharashtra. It is about 2.3 KM away from Vajreshwari. They are also known as Rameshwar hot springs due to their close association with the Rameshwar temple.

Khindsi Lake
Khindsi Lake is a lake near Ramtek city in the Nagpur district. It is known as central India’s largest boating centre and amusement park. Numerous tourists visit this lake every year. It offersvariety of activities such as boating, water sports, etc. and it also has a resort.

Gosekhurd Dam
Gosekhurd dam is on the Wainganga River near Pauni in Bhandara district in Maharashtra, India. It is considered a major project in central India. The dam has 33 spillway gates to regulate irrigation water into the river throughout the year.

Bhandardara Dam
Bhandardara Dam was built on the river Pravara during the British rule in the Western Ghats region of India. It is one of the natural beauties in the Sahyadri range in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district.

Gangapur Dam
Gangapur Dam is on the Godavari river near Nashik in Maharashtra, India. The dam is one of the oldest dams in Maharashtra that provides drinking water to the Nashik city. Many migratory birds can be spotted in the evening.

Toranmal
Toranmal is one of the lesser-known destinations in Maharashtra. This makes it more of a calm and less crowded place. It is a small plateau in the Nandurbar district. The altitude and geographic settings make it a beautiful hill station with natural beauty and a pleasing climate.

Nandur Madhmeshwar
Nandur Madhmeshwar is a large water reservoir in Niphad taluka, Nashik. It is at the confluence of the Godavari and Kadva rivers. It also houses the bird sanctuary, popularly known as the Bharatpur of Maharashtra.

RADHANAGARI (DAJIPUR) DAM
There is nothing to beat the thrill that you can derive out of walking along a pathway in a dense forest while anticipating the sighting of wild animals in their natural habitat or absorbing the fantastic and myriad range of colours that the area’s flora may have to offer. To be able to absorb such a wonderful experience, you must head toward the Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary in Kolhapur district which offers all this and more.

Koyana Dam
With the rugged beauty of the Western Ghats reflected in an endless pool of shimmering waters, Koyna is a landscape photographer’s dream come true. Situated in the Satara district, the backwaters of Koyna form the massive Shivasagar reservoir.

Ujani Dam
Ujani Dam is a panoramic place from the Solapur district. It is constructed on the Bhima river and is hence also known as the Bhima dam. It features a variety of indigenous and migratory birds; and is famous for bird watching, especially flamingo and wildlife birds.

Venna Lake
Venna lake is a popular tourist destination in Mahabaleshwar. The area of the lake is about 11 hectares and is built over an area of about 28 acres. The lake is known for several watersports activities and is visited by tourists travelling to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar.

Rankala Lake
Rankala Lake is situated in the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra state. Rankala Lake is a freshwater lake with outstanding scenic charm. Tourists visit here to enjoy the ambience and calmness.

Pawna Dam
Pawna dam is constructed on the Pawna river. The backwaters of this dam foms the Pawna lake which is also known for several adventure activities like camping, fishing, and watersports.

Tamhini Ghat
Tamhini Ghat is a mountain passage located between Mulshi and Tamhini in Maharashtra, India. It is on the crest of the Western Ghat mountain ranges, and it is popular for picturesque surroundings which have numerous cascading waterfalls, lakes and verdant forests.

Manikdoh Dam
ManikdohDam is on the Kukadi river near Junnar. It was constructed with the purpose of irrigation and hydroelectricity generation.

Panshet Dam
Panshet Dam or Tanajisagar Dam is constructed on the Ambi river, a tributary of the Mutha River. The aim to build this dam was to irrigate the water of the Ambi river and utilize it for agricultural activities. The water from this dam is also supplied to Pune city to fulfil its needs.

Pimpalgaon Joga Dam
Pimpalgaon Joga Dam is situated on the Pushpavati river. It is one of the major tourist attractions near Junnar. The dam provides water to grape harvesting areas including Parner, Junnar, Otur, Narayangaon and Aale Phata.

Lingmala waterfall
Lingmala waterfall is the most visited waterfall in Mahabaleshwar, Maharashtra State, India. Known for its serene surroundings and lovely environment, the waterfall begins around 600 feet over a cliff and is accompanied by rich greenery.

Bhushi Dam
The Bhushi Dam is a masonry dam on the Indrayani River in Lonavala, Maharashtra, India. Bhushi Dam is among the best weekend getaway for tourists from Pune and Mumbai as well as the locals. The view of the Bhushi Dam water, during the monsoons when it overflows over stepsis enthralling.

Veer Dam
Veer dam is situated on the Nira river in Satara district. It gives a stretch of 7-8 KM from along the River Nira. This entire belt along the river is a popular attraction amongst birdwatchers.

Thoseghar Waterfall
Thoseghar waterfall near Satara is known for being one of the tallest waterfalls in Maharashtra. It is approx. 20 KM away from Satara city. The height of this waterfall is approx. 1200 feet. It is another tourist destination in the proximity of Satara, apart from the Kaas plateau.
